Looking to start a business in the City of Binghamton?

A business plan competition could get your business $5,000 to get you started.

The Binghamton Local Development Corporation and the Entrepreneurial Assistance Program announced the details of the 3rd annual Binghamton Business Plan Competition.

The competition awards $5,000 to the best plan for developing a business in the city.

Organizers say the competition encourages small business growth.

“It starts at least one new business in the city every year, and that’s always good,” says Merry Harris of the Local Development Corp. “And the other part of it is it really educates a lot of people who are thinking about starting a business.”

The application process is being handled through Broome Community College.

To register for the competition and the mandatory workshop call BCC at 778-5012.
